Interview with Yumi Twewan

Q1. How did you become interested in Tibet in the beginning? Where and why did you study thangka painting?

Since childhood, I have been interested in death and life, especially in the Book of the Dead in Tibet and the Book of the Dead in Egypt, and went to Egypt.  In 1994, he went to Nepal, learned Tibetan from a small Buddhist temple in Nepal, and hitchhiked from Nepal to Tibet. He also returned to Nepal and was introduced to Karma from the temple. He became a direct pupil of Dr. Topten and stayed there in four years. It was simple, but it was a fun life.

Q2. Did you study in Dharamshala? How was your experience in India?

I also went to Dharamsala, India several times and met the Dalai Lama several times. Dharamsala is a peaceful and favorite place. I also love India and Indian food. Especially South India. Curry is a specialty dish.

Q3. Are thangkas popular for some Japanese people?

I'm learning orthodox Japanese painting now, but there are people who like Japanese Buddhist painting and Tibetan Buddhist painting. There is a maniac popularity.

Q4. Do you support Tibetan independence through political activism? Like doing demos? What do you think about the politics around the Tibet issue in Japan?

I'm sick of Tibetan political issues. I don't demo, but my acquaintances are active. It's also sad that Tibetan culture is gone. Watching movies and cheering for her Tasidere at Tibetan restaurant.

Q5. Can you tell us about Tibetan Tarot? How did you learn it? How do you practice it? What is the goal? Which kind of Japanese people are customers?

I bought Tibetan tarot at a book fair in Nepal a long time ago, but it's not on the market now. It was created by a Belgian Tibetan Buddhist with a virtuous monk. I learned MO from a Tibetan monk, but it's not a card. The Tibetan monk told me to save people with Buddhist paintings and counseling. It's a positive fortune-telling.  It is popular with all Japanese people. Many people in Japan are worried.

Q6. What is Tibetan Palmistry? Is Tibetan Tarot or Palmistry popular in Japan? Approximately how many people are doing it in Japan?

There is no palmistry in Tibet, but it is in Japan and is popular.

Q7.  Can you tell us about being an Art Therapist at Saron Pema サロンペマ? What kind of problems do people have? Do you use Tibetan Buddhism to help people?

Salon Pema's Pema is a Tibetan word for lotus flowers. I want to give people joy and healing through Buddhist paintings and paintings. Many people are worried in Japan. Of course, I believe Tibetan Buddhism can help with that.

Q8.  Do you think Tibetan Buddhism can help Japanese people to get healing?

I believe that the essence of Tibetan Buddhism saves people

Q9.  Do you think Tibetan Buddhism is different than Japanese Buddhism? How?

I myself learned Tibetan Buddhism, but the big difference is the direct story. And in Tibet, women can directly enlighten themselves.

Q10.  What do you think about the name “supikei” or “spiritual otaku”? Are these negative words or do they describe you?

Spiritual seems to be in fashion now, but it feels vague. Many people take it negatively, but I take it simply. Do not categorize.

Q11.  Have you read spirituality books about Tibet? Which ones? Muu magazine? Tomabechi? Nakazawa?

I have read a lot of Tibetan books, but I like Namkai Norbu's books and women of wisdom. Of course I also read Nakazawa's book. The Tibetan guidebook is recommended as the Tibetan guidebook. I also wrote a little. Maybe it's out of stock anymore.

Q12.  What do regular Japanese people think about Tibetans or Tibet?

The image of an ordinary Japanese person is a spiritual, mysterious and distant country.

Q13.  Do you know Tsubaki san in Sendai?

I don't know Tsubaki-san (←この質問いる?)
